Remember when some longsuffering Iraqis kicked up their heels at Saddam being fitted with a hemp necktie? Oh, how that outburst of happiness at the just execution of a mass-murdering dictator ignited outrage, scolding and condemnation from the “civilized” elites. So, where were the guardians of good manners last week when Rev. Jerry Falwell passed away? Secularists and fellow-travelers made the scaffold-side cheering and jeering by relieved Iraqis look mournful by comparison to the hateful ( and dare I say it? Judgemental ) celebrations of Fallwell’s death. You can tell a lot about a person by what they celebrate, and what they don’t.
