Beneath the public façade of unity, the Democrat Party still has some rifts to heal, as was demonstrated yesterday when the Obama Campaign announced that the presumptive Democrat Presidential nominee planned to give a speech on patriotism today. Not to be outdone, Team Clinton swung into action, hastily scheduling speaking engagements for the recently discomfitted Candidate, Hillary Rodham Clinton and her husband, former President Bill Clinton.
A source close to the Clintons told reporters that the appearances would be comparable to Obama’s speech about Patriotism, with Bill Clinton speaking about the sacred duty of marital fidelity, and Hillary Clinton offering expert advice on how to win a Presidential Nomination.
The Obama campaign declined to comment on the Clintons' speaking schedule, but a spokesman did deny rumors that Obama had called on key supporters to give a series of similar speeches. Obama's campaign manager vehemently denied reports that the candidate had approached Ted Kennedy to give a speech on "moderation in the use of alcohol" or John Kerry to address the topic of "blending in with the common man," however he would neither confirm nor deny that Michelle Obama is planning a series of speeches titled, "Poor and Kept Down in America, My Story."
