By selecting Sarah Palin, John McCain did a great job of knocking Obama's speech and convention bounce out of the headlines, but most of all, McCain has energized the Conservative Base of the Republican Party. That is a factor without which he could not win the election. This wise VP choice positions Republicans to rally down the home stretch in an electoral cycle that looked dismal for the GOP. Republicans will do well to note that in McCain's campaign and in the selection of Governor Palin, it has been fidelity to Conservatism that has energized and united the Party. So far, so good.
