Things sure are different now when it comes to State of the Union speeches. In the 1990's I could go to Church on SOTUS night, and even if the meeting ran late, I could count on catching the last forty-five minutes of Bill Clinton reveling in the sound of his own voice.
With George W. Bush, I have to be in front of the TV at 8PM sharp -- and there's no coming home late to catch the tail end either; Bush says what he has to say, then gets home in time to have his milk and cookies, and climb into his own bed with his own wife before 10:00 PM.
In the fashionable spirit of international comity I say, Vive la difference!
