What was missing from the election night coverage/analysis? The Al-Quaeda viewpoint. Why didn't the Networks give us an Al-Quaeda spokesman to offer blow-by-blow the OBL perspective on the election?
In x States, Tuesday, Americans voted to protect Marriage by affirming the traditional definition of one-man-one-woman. This is routinely reported as a "Banning Gary Marriage," even though the measures ban nothing.
But, perhaps I can explain what's going on in terms Liberals understand: Most Americans support Gays. We just don't support their Mission.
Cancel the Amber Alert and breathe a sigh of relief. Nancy Pelosi has been found safe and unharmed.
Pelosi, the probable Speaker of the House, appeared healthy and exhuberant when she turned up November 8th after being missing for more than a month, just at the time voters across the country were being asked to install a Democrat majority in the U.S. House of Representatives.
Party officials have so far declined to either confirm or deny reports that Pelosi had been held in protective custody in the attic of Rahm Emmanuel's Chicago Residence.
What are some of the post-election phrases, familiar following past Republican victories, that are strangely absent from the media/democrat lexicon this week?
Not a mandate
Tuesday's election marked the end of an era -- oh, I don't mean the end of the 1994 Republican Revolution. That ended (at the very latest) when the GOP House ran scared from Social Security Personal Accounts in 2005-- I'm referring to the era of the Democrat Party as one-big-happy-family.
The election of Democrat majorities in the House and probably the Senate spells the beginning of Democrat infighting for power. And the same people who are willing to lose a war in order to get power will not flinch at stabbing a few fellow Democrat backs for the same purpose.
Most of the story of yesterday's election is catastrophic. For one thing, the result shows that a Party can win by running on nothing! Not that the Dems don't have an agenda, but for the most part, they just didn't campaign on it. For a second thing, it may confirm (depending on how the turnout statistics turn out) that Christian "values voters" and Conservatives are childish about politics, treating elections as if they were about perfection, rather than about who is better. If sluggish GOP turnout handed majorities in the House or Senate or both to the Democrats, the Conservatives and Values Voters who stayed home are not going to happy with what they have wrought. Some on the Right wanted to "teach Republicans a lesson," but the lesson learned will be "move to the Left." Conservatives and Christians will discover that it was much better and easier to get things done incrementally from within the majority party than to be on the outside with your nose pressed against the glass, or to be disengaged and aloof from the muck of politics. Unfortunately, there is no such thing as staying aloof, because the Party of Big Government will assure that we are not just left alone.
Do Republican office holders deserve blame for big spending and inertia on immigration? Sure, but what we will get instead from Liberal Democrats, fiscal discipline and secure borders? In the House of Representatives, no action will result in huge tax increases, interference with the commander in chief and a possible Vietnam 1974-style cut off of funding could result in the permanent destruction of American credibility in war. The Dems also have the votes to enact legislation raising costs to businesses through minimum wage hikes, tax increases, and increases in regulation, which can kill economic growth, and the House is likely to pass the McCain-Kennedy Comprehensive Immigration Reform Bill that passed the Senate, and the President was ready to sign had it passed the House this year, giving a path to citizenship to millions of illegal immigrants and the shaft to millions of legal immigrants.
In the Senate, say goodbye to any more conservative judicial nominees, and expect any conservative cabinet appointments (the last two years of a presidency typically has many resignations simply due to burn out) to be rejected by the Senate.
Well, there was a silver lining, in our IL 6th CD Pete Roskam, a good state legislator, a good man and a committed Christian, won the open seat (vacated by retiring Henry Hyde) against a pathetic Democrat challenger, Tammy Duckworth.
I say pathetic because when Duckworth returned from an Army tour in Iraq, having lost both legs in a helicopter crash, she was gung-ho for the war in Iraq; as a guest on local WLS Talk Radio, she expressed support for and confidence in our mission; but evidently some Democrat operatives "got to her," and turned her against the war and the sacrifices she and others have made to keep America safe. It's the kind of activity that makes ambulance chasing look noble by comparison. Duckworth was recruited by the national Democrat Party to run for this open seat, and they elbowed aside the local Democrat organization, pouring big-time dollars into the Primary to put this out-of-the-district candidate on the ballot, because she provided an ideal profile of the victim-of-Bush's-illegal-war-for-oil.
Fortunately, DuPage County voters are not quite stupid enough to fall for that routine. As for voters in the rest of the Country? I look forward to 2008, taking solace in the confidence that you can't fool all of the people all of the time.
Did you happen to receive a direct mail piece from American Family Voices this past weekend? AFV is a Liberal 501C3, founded by a former Clinton aide and former Political Director of People for the American Way, Michael Lux, and funded by the government employees labor union, AFSCME, and other “Progressive” donors. The weekend-before-the-election mailpiece is dressed up as an Evangelical Christian Organization Special Edition Newsletter, and assumes the perspective of “Values Voters,” betrayed by corrupt Republicans, complete with what appears at first glance to be an anti-Republican quote from James Dobson, but on closer examination the quote marks appear only around AFV’s citation, not around the words attributed to Dr. Dobson.
Of course, it was not difficult to smell a DemocRAT (a little subliminal message for you there J) when American Family Voices listed their gripes at Conservatives: taking contributions from Big Oil, cutting taxes for The Rich, laying waste to the Envirnonment, and going to war to enrich Halliburton. If you think they couldn’t top that list for tone deafness to the concerns of Evangelicals you’re wrong. AFV provides what would make a great parody of what Secularist Liberals THINK Christians are like, with their railing on Mark Foley. After all, you know how stunned all of us hayseed Bible-thumpers are that there are actually homosexuals in the GOP’s Big-Tent; and you know how we would like to burn homosexuals at the stake -- and here is our chance, by voting out the Republicans and voting in...Nancy Pelosi?
But wait, that’s not all…Somehow this supposed Evangelical Organization failed to mention issues that Evangelicals actually care about, such as abortion, same-sex marriage, immorality in pop-culture, parental rights, assaults on innocence in the public schools, assisted suicide, human cloning, destruction of human embryos for stem-cell research, oppressive taxation, free exercise of religion, etc…
This begs the questions, 1) how dumb does the Secularist Democrat Left think Christians are? and 2) what kind of political movement feels the need to enhance its electoral prospects by masquerading as the opposition?
What is the difference between a “botched joke” and a “racist slur”? That’s easy, when a Republican, like Virginia Senator George Allen puts his foot in his mouth with an incomprehensible epithet like “Macaca,” that is an unforgiveable racial slur, worthy of weeks of media scrutiny. On the other hand, it’s merely a “botched joke” when a serial military-loather like Democrat John Kerry insults the men and women of America’s Armed Forces, implying that they serve in our military only because sloth deprived them of adequate education, leaving them with no other options.Kerry’s real problem is a botched belief about America’s Armed Services, an elitist condescension that casts our heroic volunteer warriors as hapless, helpless victims. Unfortunately, John Kerry’s botched viewpoint is now mainstream in the once-great Democrat Party.
Is Barak Obama’s sudden and unmerited rise to prominence / Democrat Savior without precedent? Well, 2004 Flash-in-the-pan, John Edwards, leaps to mind; but for a more analagous PR-blitz we should think back to the year 1979, and an obscure cleric living in Paris. The Ayatollah Khomeni entered the American consciousness from out of nowhere, and the media/academic people glamorizing him knew next to nothing about the man, yet they employed the usual full-court press to sell Americans (and the world) on embracing Khomeni as the populist savior of Iran. Our junior U.S. Senator is no Khomeni, of course, but Democrats are panting over him because he offers the key ingredient which has been present every time Democrats have won the Presidency in the past 30+ years: i.e. voters are deceived about what he stands for. But, can Obama keep a lid on the “L” word for two whole years of national attention? He, the DNC and the Leftmedia will surely try.
Perhaps the GOP needs to force the Democrats to put-up or shut-up on the Foley scandal, as they did when "Old Cut-and-Run" Murtha demanded a U.S. withdrawal from Iraq. The House Leadership should propose a Sense-of-the-House Resolution calling for Profiling of Homosexual and suspected Homosexual House Members, in order to protect The Children from sexual predators. Let's see if the Democrats are serious about rooting out the pederasts in the House.
Let me get this straight, Americans are supposed to elect a Democrat majority to the House of Representatives because Democrats are going to crack down on Homosexual Perverts preying on teenage boys?
Considering the cozy relationship between the Democrat Party and Homosexual Activists, one wonders just how Democrats hope to convert the scandal of former GOP Rep. Tom Foley's perverted homosexual flirtations with underage Congressional Pages into votes for Democrats.
How about this Talking Point? "If Democrats were in charge this crime wouldn't have been committed -- because if Democrats were in charge we would already have made it legal."
With Muslims worldwide rioting, burning, pillaging and murdering because the Pope alluded to the violence taught by Islam, the "Religion of Peace" has once again shown its true colors. The New York Times, true to form, counsels Jihad -- um, I mean Submission.
In the top of the hour FOX Radio newscast on my local station, reporting about GOP Senators joining Democrats to thwart the President on interrogation of captured terrorists, the News Reader described Lindsay Graham as a “senior Republican Senator.” Since the First-Term Senator from South Carolina is not a member of the Republican Senate Leadership, is it his chairmanship of two obscure subcommittees that makes him “senior,” or does Old-Media celebrity --conferred on any Republican willing to backstab President Bush – qualify Graham as a “senior" Republican Senator?
On the 5th Anniversary of the 9/11 Attacks against America, it is time that somebody stood up to defend the Democrats against the scurrilous charge, leveled by sundry Right-wingers, that Democrats cannot be trusted to fight a war.
The simple truth is that, although they have no pallet for making war against Islamo-Facist Jihadists, Democrats are perfectly capable of making war as ruthlessly as anyone.
Just ask any of the enemies against whom Democrats have been making war, such as:
The Boy Scouts
The Ten Commandments
Fast Food Restaurants
Crosses and Creches
Nuclear Power Plants
The Timber Industry
George W. Bush
Did I miss anyone?
