Breaking News?

“Breaking News from ABC…John Edwards repeatedly lied during his campaign for the Democrat Presidential nomination…”

Today ABC interrupted Rush Limbaugh in mid-sentence to tell us that a Democrat politician is a serial liar. What’s next? Will ABC interrupt regular programming to tell us the Earth is rotating on its axis?

The highest form...

The lead of the Associated Press story about Barrack Obama's anger at criticism of his wife reads, "What gets under Barack Obama's skin? Criticism of his wife, Michelle Obama."

Obama and his ilk claim that their criticism of our beloved Country is the highest form of Patriotism, right? So, why is criticism of Obama's wife a problem?

Doesn't Barrack (or the A.P. for that matter) understand that Michelle's critics are merely expressing their love and devotion? Just like Obama and his fellow Leftists are showing their Patriotism when they trash America.

Rope a Dope? We Can Only Hope.

Perhaps Barrack Obama’s self-infatuated “whirlwind tour” of the Middle East and Europe, where his Student Lounge nostrums and brilliantly stated non-insights display him as a naïve and arrogant fool, is merely a clever ruse to cause the tyrants in Tehren, Seoul, Bejing, Caracas and Moscow to underestimate him. If not, God help us, it will be almost impossible for them to do so.

Four Years of Whining Ahead?

Obama “infuriated” by criticism of his wife

One of the best things my wife and I ever did was to train our children to not whine; but, as anyone can observe, whining children and the hapless parents who tolerate it are characteristic of family life in America in our times. That may help explain why Barrack Obama is able to maintain popularity and “likeability,” despite being the most persistent crybaby in national politics – maybe in the HISTORY of national politics.

Baby Boomers who permit their own children to whine may feel comfortable with a whining presidential aspirant as well. As for the rest of us, like diners at a restaurant who become collateral damage to the whining children of Boomer parents, we may be destined to endure the dispepsia of witnessing a protracted whining session, which will be known to history as the Obama Presidency. Even more disconcerting is the realization that our primary hope to escape this scenario rests with the grandfatherly John McCain, and everyone knows that grandparents are notorious enablers of whining children.

Not to be outdone

Beneath the public façade of unity, the Democrat Party still has some rifts to heal, as was demonstrated yesterday when the Obama Campaign announced that the presumptive Democrat Presidential nominee planned to give a speech on patriotism today. Not to be outdone, Team Clinton swung into action, hastily scheduling speaking engagements for the recently discomfitted Candidate, Hillary Rodham Clinton and her husband, former President Bill Clinton.

A source close to the Clintons told reporters that the appearances would be comparable to Obama’s speech about Patriotism, with Bill Clinton speaking about the sacred duty of marital fidelity, and Hillary Clinton offering expert advice on how to win a Presidential Nomination.

The Obama campaign declined to comment on the Clintons' speaking schedule, but a spokesman did deny rumors that Obama had called on key supporters to give a series of similar speeches. Obama's campaign manager vehemently denied reports that the candidate had approached Ted Kennedy to give a speech on "moderation in the use of alcohol" or John Kerry to address the topic of "blending in with the common man," however he would neither confirm nor deny that Michelle Obama is planning a series of speeches titled, "Poor and Kept Down in America, My Story."

Obama and Patriotism
What does Barrack Obama think of someone who overlooks racist remarks made by friends and associates, rather than speaking out in opposition? Is that person right on racism? Well, Obama overlooked (for decades) the unpatriotic remarks and actions of his friends and associates (to say nothing of his WIFE), rather than speaking out in opposition. How then is Obama not only right on patriotism, but also the guest lecturer, self-appointed to teach the rest of us the lessons of patriotism? Maybe Obama would do better to go on a "listening tour," to let average Americans, who are not so "conflicted" about patriotism, explain the concept to Obama.

Indiana Jones

My wife and I went to see the new Indiana Jones movie last Thursday, and the first thing we noticed was (just like when we saw "Rocky Balboa") the theater was full of old fogies, like us. Rather pleasant, actually, compared to the usual rude teeny-boppers whispering and sending text messages throughout the feature.

As for the movie itself, it provided quite a few laughs and tense action sequences, as you would expect from Indiana Jones. We were pleasantly surprised by the new character who Indy takes along on this adventure. Considering the potential for a "sidekick" character to flop, the good chemistry between Indy and Mutt was a major accomplishment.

It was great fun to see many classic Indiana Jones gags shamelessly recycled. So much fun, in fact, that the experience wasn't ruined even by the indignant jabs at the 1950's "Red Scare." The irony of decrying Cold War era concerns about Communist infiltration in a movie that depicts Russian KGB agents freely operating in the American heartland apparently eluded the writer and director.

It was some relief that the filmmakers did not trot out the Nazis for another curtain call. But no commendation is in order, since they simply fell back on that unwritten Hollywood maxim: "When you're out of ideas, bring out the Nazis. When you've worn out the Nazis, bring out the Aliens." Too bad the Indiana Jones series concludes in such abject creative bankruptcy, but I suppose the makers' creative resources were just spent, and all in all it was a good run and a fun one.

Changing Sides?

When I saw this AP Headline: Obama Signaling He Will Fight for West I thought perhaps all the criticism of Obama’s tyrant-coddling foreign policy idiocy had persuaded the candidate to finally declare himself unequivocally on the side of America against our Islamo-Facist enemies. No such luck, it’s merely a story about Obama’s plans to campaign in Nevada, New Mexico and Colorado; his allegiance in the long war with the Jihadists remains an open question.

Preview of Coming Attractions

Do you recall a visit to the White House by the Chi-Com thug de jour, during the Clinton Presidency? This bloody-handed Commie defended China’s menacing of Taiwan by comparing the Chi-Com's intimidation of its neighbor with President Lincoln using arms to supress the Confederate succession. Bubba’s response? “Well, I guess you’ve got a point there.”

So, how do you suppose Barack Obama’s Student-Lounge historical perspective will serve American interests when President Obama goes face-to-face to persuade the Iranians to forsake nuclear weapons, and a sandal-pounding Amedinijad launches the predictable tirade, upbraiding the U.S. for nuking Hiroshima and Nagasaki, two-hundred years of slavery, denying women the vote for more than a century, wiping out the injuns and deliberately spreading the AIDS virus?

Actually, Obama should feel right at home – just like sittin’ in church.

Obama Brings About Real Change

Would-be President Barack Obama's brilliant ideas include a "windfall profits" tax, appeasing our nation's enemies, undermining our less-than-perfect authoritarian allies, snubbing the United States' strongest ally in Latin America, and finding fault with America.

Well, Obama has heralded himself as the agent of "change," and I'd have to say he is right. Obama's litany of bad ideas calls for a change to the definition of insanity, made famous by candidate Bill Clinton in a 1992 Presidential debate. Thanks to Barrack Obama, insanity can now be defined as "doing the same things Jimmy Carter did, and expecting different results."

That's change America could live without.

Sun-Times Tests New Layout

The Chicago Sun-Times has apparently moved the Funny Papers to the Front Page. In today's edition, the sub-head over a debate photo of Obama and Hillary reads, "Obama complains distractions keeping him from talking about real issues."

Presumably, the "real issues" would include serious policy prescriptions like, "Change," "Hope," "Yes, we can," and "We are the people we've been waiting for." The "distractions" would include unimportant things like Obama's elitist contempt for working-class rural Americans, Obama's wife's low opinion of the U.S.A., Obama's very close decades-long affiliation with a racist, America-hating spiritual advisor, Obama's close-ties to indicted political influence purchaser Tony Rezko, Obama's Socialist prescriptions for taxes and government spending, Obama's utter failure to understand the effect of capital gains tax policy on investor incentives, economic growth and tax revenues, Obama's promises to coddle and legitimize America's enemies Iran and North Korea coupled with his threat to invade America's ally Pakistan, Obama's snubbing of America's closest South American ally Columbia, or Obama's I-can-declare-defeat-in-Iraq-faster-than-you war strategy.

Congratulations to the Chicago Sun-Times. With daily newspaper subscriptions and ad sales in a seemingly irreversible tailspin, at least the publishers have found a way to give the remnant of readers a few laughs before the lights go out.

Quote of the Week

And the winner is . . . Ann Coulter:

"It is an article of faith with the Democrats that they must fool Americans by simulating agreement with normal people. The winner of the Democratic primary is always the candidate who does the best impersonation of an American."

McCain on Taxes and Growth
I heard John McCain's speech yesterday about taxes and economic growth, and it seems the Senator has started believing his own spin from the Republican Primaries, i.e. he actually sounded like a former foot-soldier of the Reagan Revolution. If this is a dream don't wake me.

Sun-Times Runs Cover for Obama

Front page of the Chicago Sun-Times: “The speech of his life.” Doesn’t this beg the question, why he hasn’t made this speech sooner? I’m sure any Republican would get the same fawning treatment if he was renouncing ties to a radical church, right? Does anybody recall a Pat Buchanan campaign staffer in 2006, who  was invited to the same event where some white supremacist whackos had rented an expo booth? There were no speeches, just "off with his head." No one tried to understand anyone's rage. It did not matter that the Buchanan aide had no affiliation with the white supremacist. No newspaper attempted to place it in a good light. Contrast with Obama and his America-hating, race-baiting Pastor of twenty years.

The Sun-Times sub-headline goes on to add this gloss-over:

“his former Pastor’s fiery sermons”

Pu-uh-leeeeeese, give me a break.

“former” ? Obama still belongs to the church and the pastor just retired. The new pastor is the same breed and Obama still belongs to the Church.

“pastor” ? not only was J. Wright Obama’s pastor, he was/is his spiritual counselor and for some time a campaign advisor for faith matters.

“fiery sermons” ? I'll say. How about anti-American rants and hatred-towards-whites tirades?

This is spin at its finest. Obama is exposed as either an afro-centric whacko, or an obsequeious member of the mob, who doesn’t have the sense or the fortitude to remove himself and his family from the spiritual leadership of a raving Louis Farrakhan knock-off with a cross on the wall. So, what does Obama do? He changes the subject. He calls for racial healing, blah, blah, blah. A little late, don’t you think? About 20 years too late.

Moreover, Obama does nothing to explain how a patriotic American could sit in the pews and listen to the most vile anti-American vituperations, and the most unhinged conspiracy theories, without dissenting, UNTIL his political aspirations required a dissent. Would you lead your wife and children to sit under the tutelage of Jeremiah Wright’s frothings against the Nation you love?

Of course the drive-by media is only too quick to pick up Obama’s spin and run with it. So, if you or I don’t swallow Obama’s load of excrement -- which the media is comparing to Martin Luther King’s “I have a Dream” speech (talk about the lowering of standards) – then we are the ones prolonging the agony of racial strife. This would be funny if it didn’t fool so many people. Obama is like the cartoon character being chased, who when his pursuer catches him says, “quick, he went that-a-way.” And we’re supposed to go running that-a-way?

You cannot participate in racial division, and for that matter national division for twenty years, then when you’re caught red-handed at it, declare yourself the agent of racial and national reconciliation. Or maybe you can, if good-hearted people want badly enough to believe you. We’ll soon see how gullible people are in the age of feelings uber-alles.

Shell Game

Barrack Obama’s Philadelphia speech attempts to shift the focus from Rev. Wright’s America-hating tirades to Rev. Wright’s over-the-top race baiting, because Obama can appeal to White Guilt on the racial issue, but not on hatred of the Nation that Obama is asking to make him its leader.

Don't fall for Obama's misdirection. Racial divisiveness is part of the problem with Rev. Wright, but the bigger question is, "why would a man who wants to be President of the United States maintain a decades-long close association with an foaming-at-the-mouth America-hater like Jeremiah Wright?"

In his speech, Obama effectively says, "the matter is closed, and anyone who continues talking about it is part of the problem, so everybody just shut up." Now that is audacious.

Sleeping in Church?

Barrack Obama never heard his Pastor, Jeremiah Wright, frothing and fulminating against the U.S.A., and it is true that lots of people sleep in church, but having heard the fiery Rev. Wright, and the congregation going wild in response, you would have to believe that Obama is a singularly heavy sleeper.

It reminds me of an old Dick VanDyke Show episode in which Rob Petrie is suspected of committing a crime, and his alibi to the police detective is that he was at a movie, asleep. The incredulous detective wants to know which movie, and Rob answers, “The Guns of Navarrone.” More suspicious than ever, the detective demands rhetorically, “you slept through The Guns of Navarrone?”

I think voters could be excused for being similarly skeptical of Obama's plea of ignorance. The kindest interpretation we can grant Obama is that he is afflicted with an appalling lack of alertness. If you want to be President of the United States, not only do you need to answer the phone at 3:00 AM, you need to pay attention in Church.

With Friends Like This...
Senator Obama, why were the people you go to church with CHEERING when Rev. Wright was spewing his vile anti-American racial paranoia?

A Simple Question for the Senator

Senator Obama, would you classify your Pastor’s invectives against America as the words of a Patriot?

His and Hers Shame

Barack Obama isn't doing a very good job of allaying the concerns about his attitude towards America, which were raised by his wife's confession that she has not been proud of the U.S.A. for the last quarter of a century.

Demonstrating that he conforms to every detail of Liberal orthodoxy, Obama indicated his thralldom to the opinions of Euro-elites, by vowing something to the effect that when he is President his policies will make it possible for an American traveling abroad to be proud to say, "I'm an American."

In other words, Obama thinks that, as of today, we cannot proudly declare ourselves Americans when in foreign lands. Maybe Mr. & Mrs. Obama and their friends are ashamed to let foreigners identify them with this greatest nation on God's green Earth, but I'm not, are you?

Gravitas Anyone?

Have you heard any Drive-by Media types, reporting on Barack Obama's substance-free campaign for President of the United States, utter the word, "GRAVITAS"? I didn't think so.

Concerns about a lack of "gravitas" are reserved for a successful two-term Governor of one of the largest States in the Union, a successful entrepreneur in professional sports and the energy industry, a Harvard MBA, an insider in two presidential campaigns, and a confidant of a former President, Vice President and CIA Director, NOT for a first-term Senator with no legislation bearing his name, no private-sector accomplishments on his resume, and no significant policy idea that was not minted decades ago by LBJ or FDR.
